The main airport on the Costa De La Luz is Jerez. It is the south western most part of Spain, famous for its sherry production, flamenco and Andalusian trotting horses. The Costa De La Luz (Coast Of Light) also leads to the border with Portugal.
It is also sometimes referred to as La Parra Airport: situated 8km northeast of Jerez, about 80km south of Seville and 45km from Cadiz. Gibraltar & Tarifa are around 125 km to the south.
It's an easy single terminal airport to find your way around with ground floor access to the arrivals and departures areas. If you are driving to and from the airport then the car park is right outside arrivals. In fact you are less than 30 seconds away from the terminal!
Last year the train station opened connecting the airport with Jerez, Santa María Port, Port Real, San Fernando and Cadiz via the C1 suburban train line and the Seville to Cadiz train service. The approximate journey times: to Jerez is just 9 minutes: Cadiz: 57 minutes and to Seville: one hour and 11 minutes.
There is a limited bus service from the airport with just two buses: Line M050 (about 10 times a day) to Jerez City and then on to Cádiz. Line M-051 (about 6 times a day) to Jerez, Port of Santa María and Cádiz .
The best way to get around and explore this large coastline is by hiring a car. It truly is a beautiful area with a fantastic climate no matter what time of the year you visit! It is best to pre-book your car to save time when you arrive at the airport to ensure that any extras (child seats, roof rack, etc) are fitted in advance and that you get the make and model you want. You will see all the car hire offices grouped together along the wall in the arrivals hall.
Last year the airport handled just over 823.177 passengers with 43.562 flight operations.. This could be more but at the moment the only "low cost" airline running in and out of Jerez is Ryanair, and the routes they fly are to London Stansted, Barcelona, Frankfurt and Dusseldorf. You might well find the operators offer less flights over the winter months
