Fuerteventura is a modern Spanish Airport right on the coastline next to the sea just five kilometres from the Port of Rosario.
Built in the 1960s, Fuerteventura Airport consists of one terminal with levels P0 (ground floor arrivals) and P1 (first floor departures).
If you are planning to get a taxi to your destination you will see the rank right in front of the arrivals area in the main airport building (a taxi from the airport to the Port of Rosario is about €10,00 and about €45,00 to Corralejo).
Another option is to hire a car which gives you the freedom to explore the island at your leisure. Fuerteventura is 100km long and 30km wide, so you can drive to any resort and back within a day.
You will see four car hire companies who actually have desks in the airport. They are located along the back wall of the arrivals hall. If you want to save time when you land, make sure you pre-book your car as this means you will be able to complete the paperwork in advance and only need to present the booking reference, credit card and driving licence when you go to collect the keys.
If you're travelling on a budget, then there is a pretty reliable bus service on Fuerteventura. The bus stops at the airport are to the left of the arrivals hall exit offering two main bus routes to Rosario Port and Caleta de Fuste. There are about 17 routes operating around the island from the terminus at Puerto del Rosario.
If you're planning to use the buses a lot, then think about buying a Tarjeta Dinero discount card which represents around a 30% saving on each trip.
There is no rail service on Fuerteventura
A large number of the passengers handled at Fuerteventura Airport come from the UK, Germany and other EU countries as well as the Spanish mainland. In 2014 Fuerteventura Airport handled 5.026.902 passengers with 39.303 flight operations.
