Vigo Airport Overview

Vigo is on the north western coast of Spain in the province of Galicia. The city centre is 9km away with the city of Pontevedra a 28km drive. The A52 motorway is the main link to Spain. It connects to the A6 to Madrid and the AP9 to Santiago de Compostela and A Coruña. The A55 motorway leads to thePortuese border where it turns into the A3 to Braga and Porto.

When you land you will either disembark from the aircraft via the airbridge on the first floor, or be taken to the arrivals terminal by bus.

To get to your final destination you have the choice of catching a bus from the stop outside the arrivals hall with a route running on weekdays only between the airport and Plaza de America and to Colon on Saturdays and public holidays.

There is no train service at the airport, with the main railway station in the Casablanca neighbourhood. of the city centre. This operates trains to nearby towns,plus daily express and "Talgo" trains to larger cities like Madrid.

If you are planning to catch a taxi from the airport to Vigo, Mos and Redondela there is a fixed tariff of just over twenty euros.

You will find the three car hire desks in the arrivals lobby after security. It is better to prebook a rent a car as you can request any extras (like child seats) when you make the reservation and this will cut down on time when you arrive and also ensure you get the make and model of the vehicle you want. It also often secures a better deal.

As public transport services are rather limited at the airport, my recommendation would be that you either hire a car or pre-book a private transfer from the airport to get to your final destination.

The new departures lounge has a new security checkpoint and a larger departures lounge with four new boarding gates. This area is currently connected to the check-in lobby by a tunnel.

Vigo Airport has 2 cafes/restaurants, 3 shops, four cash machines, a charging facility for mobile phones and other mobile device and WiFi Internet access.
