There is a very limited selection of direct flights from the UK to Santander with Ryanair flying there from Dublin, Edinburgh and London Stansted.
The other alternative is to fly into Madrid or Malaga and get a connecting flight from there - again with Ryanair.
Other Spanish destinations which can be reached from Santander include Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Palma Mallorca, Seville, Tenerife and Valencia with Ryanair being the main flight operator
Santander is a very busy port and seaside resort on Spain's northern coastline. The city offers many attractions or the resort of El Sardinero is less than 2.5km away.
You can get here by ferry from the UK ports of Portsmouth or Plymouth with Brittany Ferries which sail across the Bay of Biscay.
The ancient city is very attractive with its wide tree line boulevards, esplanade, parks, gardens, shops and cafes. An casino, theatre and many other fine buildings were built for the wealthy aristocracy who were regular visitors here in the past. It still attracts wealthy Spaniards who holiday here.
Santander is divided into the commercial centre with shops, historic buildings and tourist attractions, and the resort of El Sardinero with the royal palace and the Gran Casino del Sardinero
There are three beaches or you take a 15 minute boat ride to the uncrowded and quiet El Puntal.
