You can fly to or from Gran Canaria Las Palmas Airport with UK airlines Ryanair, Monarch Airlines, easyJet, AerLingus and Jet2.com from airports including Birmingham, Bristol, Cork, Dublin, Nottingham East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow, London Gatwick, Luton and Stansted.
The majority of the flights they handle are domestic and to the other islands and Spanish mainland plus other European countries with passengers from Germany making up a large part of their tourism.
It is the fifth busiest airport in Spain, partly because its good weather conditions enable it to operate for 24 hours a day every day of the year. Airline companies therefore do not have to worry about adverse weather conditions.
Also its climate attracts tourists (sightseers, sunbathers and golfers) from all over the world all year round.
When you fly into the airport you will be directed to one of three zones depending on where you have come from. Areas A, B and C all eventually lead out into the same arrivals hall, but if you are being met by someone make sure you tell them which zone you are coming through as they do have separate entrances into the public area.
If you have checked in baggage look our for the monitors after you have gone through passport control to see which carousel your bags will be unloaded on to.
Because it is such a busy airport you will find plenty of amenities there with banking facilities, currency exchange, a VIP lounge, post office, pharmacy, medical assistance and plenty of tourist information points to provide you with any advice, guidance or accommodation information you might need.
