Barcelona Airport Flights

UK Flights

With Terminal 1 that opened at Barcelona Airport a couple of years ago the Spanish Airport Authority now operate most of their domestic and international flights from there and now use the older Terminal 2 for UK flights.

Most of the airlines have their check in desks in module B with the exception of the budget carrier easyJet which is module C in a building next to terminal 2. There is a separate drop off point here and it has its own bus stop. But be warned that it is also the module which is farthest away from the railway station which is about a 7-8 minute walk away. The good news is that there are plenty of trolleys available for your luggage.

The main airlines from the UK and Ireland which fly into Barcelona are easyJet, British Airways, Jet2.com, Ryanair, Monarch and AerLingus. The Spanish airline Iberia also flys here (code sharing with BA) and KLM flys from Cardiff and Norwich.

The airports you can fly from include Belfast International, Bristol, Dublin, Edinburgh, Glasgow Prestwick, Leeds Bradford, Liverpool, London Heathrow, Gatwick, City, Luton and Stansted, Manchester and Southend.

Domestic & European

Barcelona also offers connecting flights to other parts of the Spanish mainland and Canary and Balearic Islands including A Coruna, Alicante, Almeria, Asturias, Badajoz, Bilbao, Burgos, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Granada, Ibiza, Jerez, Lanzarote, Madrid, Malaga Costa del Sol, Menorca, Palma de Mallorca, Pamplona, Salamanca, San Sebastian, Santander, Santiago, Seville, Tenerife north and South, Valladolid and Vigo.

And you can get to other parts of Europe from here including Amsterdam, Austria, Bogota, Brussels, Bucharest, Bulgaria, Casablanca, France, Gambia, Germany, Greece, Italy, Norway, Hungary, Luxembourg, Morocco, Portugal, Roma, Russia, Switzerland, Tunisia and Turkey.

Getting Around

Even though Barcelona is a large airport (the second biggest in Spain after Madrid), I think it is fairly easy to find your way around as long as you are clear on which terminal you are arriving at departing from (terminal 1 is a 7 minute free shuttle bus journey away from terminal 2) and also the right module (for T2).  

The first time I visited the airport I assumed (wrongly) and that terminals were joined and when I discovered that they were a bus ride apart and I was running out of time an unscrupulous taxi driver quoted me a minimum fare of €20, 00 to take me from 2 to 1.  Needless to say I got the shuttle bus which runs at 5 minute intervals.
