There are no flights from the UK to San Sebastian but you can fly into Madrid Barajas Airport or Barcelona El Prat Airport and get a connection with Air Nostrum or Vueling Airlines.
Alternatively if you want to take your time and see some of the country you can catch a train which takes about five hours from Madrid or Barcelona takes five hours thirty minutes.
The airport is 22km from the centre of San Sebastian. There are a number of buses running from outside the arrivals hall running into the city centre and nearby towns. The nearest hotels to the airport are the Jaizkibel, Jauregi, Pampinot and Hotel Rio Bidasoa.
San Sebastian is the cultural capital of the Basque country of Northern Spain. It is surrounded by mountains on the Bay of Biscay.
During the hottest months (June-September) the Spaniards head here to escape the heat of the inland towns and cities. It is a busy city with a population of over 185,000 (including 16,500 university students).
There are some great beaches here and the town has a lovely old quarter jammed with tapas bars and cafes.
Mount Urgull and Mount Igueldo are the places to go to get the best views over the town and bay.
