Murcia Airport can be reached the Mar Menor A-37 motorway which links Murcia to the Airport from the main A7 autopista. San Javier Airport is 44km from the centre of Murcia so remember “Cambio de Sentido” in case you miss a turn as this indicates an opportunity for you to turn round.

If you are planning on hiring a car, driving directions to and from the airport are fairly straightforward, but if you are hiring a car for your stay make sure that you have good maps and directions before you set off as the signposting on some of the minor roads can often be inconsistent. Old signs are often not taken down after new roads have made them obsolete and this can obviously lead to conflicting directions.

Tips on Driving in Murcia

Driving in the city centre is pretty straightforward but it can get very busy during rush hours. There is an underground car park next to the Town Hall is the best place to leave your car as it is a short walk from the historic and commercial centre.

The towns and Villages near Murcia tend to be small and without traffic problems. Some of the mostpopular are Alcantarilla, Cabezo de Torres, Puente Tocinos, Espinardo- Molina de Segura, Algezares. El Palmar and La Alberca .

Murcia has a large out of town shopping complex with two malls, IKEA and the the football stadium of Real Murcia. Its popularity means that traffic jams often build up on the Mediterranean motorway (A-7) especially on Saturdays. The football stadium causes further traffic hold ups on match days (usually Sundays) so avoid the afternoons.
