Arriving at Melilla Airport

When you land at Melilla and disembark from your plane entry into the terminal building is on foot. If you have mobility problems and need assistance you should notify your airline at least 24 hours in advance of your flying so that they can arrange for a wheelchair or buggy to be waiting you you.

When you reach the baggage reclaim hall there are two carousels and the Civil Guard who issue VAT refunds to local residents.

Once you have collected your bags you should proceed to the general public arrivals lobby where yu will see the car hire office, airport (Aena) information desk and customer suppport who deal with any luggage problems. If you leave anything on the plane you should contact your airline.

If someone is meeting you, then a good place for them to wat is the Cafetería del Aeropuerto which is on the ground floor of the public check in area. It is the only cafe in the airport so you can't miss it.

The only airport shop - Tienda del Aeropuerto - is also in this area and is a good place if when you arrive you want to get a newspaper or magazine, sweets or local foods.

Outside the terminal you will see the taxi rank which is the only way of reaching the city (which is less than a 4km journey which takes about 9 minutes) unless you hire a car. There are no bus of train services.
