You can get scheduled flights to Bilbao from several UK Airports including Dublin, London Heathrow and Stansted and Manchester. The flights are operated by the budget carrier easyJet, AerLingus (for Dublin) and Vueling Airlines which is a subsidiary of the Spanish airline Iberia.
Other European destinations served by Bilbao Airport include Alicante, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Brussels, Dusseldorf, Istanbul, Frankfurt, Geneva, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Lisbon, Madrid, Malaga, Milan, Munich, Palma, Paris, Rome, Santiago, Seville, Stuttgart, Tenerife, Tunis, Valencia, Venice and Vigo.
The airport is just 12km from the city centre with bus connections running from outside the arrivals terminal to Bilbao, Zarautz , San Sebastián, Arrasate, Bergara and Eibar.
There is also a taxi rank and expect to pay between €25-30 (depending on the time of travel) for up to 4 passengers to get into the centre.
There is no rail link at the airport but there is a Renfe main line station in Bilbao which offers high speed connections to a number of locations.
If you are planning on hiring a car to get to your next destination and for the duration of your stay it is best to book in advance as this often gets you the best deal, makes sure you get the vehicle you want and also cuts down on time when you land..
