The new departures terminal at Almeria Airport has just opened and is a large, bright and airy building. There are further plans for expansion which will be completed by mid 2010.
The check-in area is on the ground floor of the passenger terminal. The waiting area and boarding gates are situated on the basement level beyond the security checkpoint in the general hall on the ground floor. The departures hall is for both domestic and international departures and has a duty-free shop. There are five boarding gates for access to the aircraft, two of them can be used for international traffic as passengers have to go through passport control first.
As you walk into departures you will see 21 check in desks straight in front of you and a large information board which tells you which check in desk to go to.
After check in you need to head to the right end of the terminal to go through security. Within this part of the airport are a newspaper shop that sells newspapers in all languages, a gift shop and a cafe & bar.
Once you go through the security checks and into the passenger only departures lounges there are another couple of shops. The main shop is Aldeasa which sells perfumes, alcohol and cigarettes.
There are two places to get something to eat and drink on the ground floor and another open air cafe upstairs which is ideal for a bit of last minute sun!
