Shopping Tips

There are plenty of shops to look around to kill some time or buy some last minute goods while you are waiting for your flight to be called for boarding.

If you are looking for discounted perfume, cosmetics, liquor or cigarettes then you will see the main duty free shop (The Shop) to your right as soon as you clear security. If you need to check what your allowance is then visit our Spanish Duty Free help page.

There are three duty free shops in total with the smaller Express Shop stocking the most popular goods and in the Arrivals Shop you will find basic goods for passengers arriving at the airport.

Alicante was the first Spanish Airport where a branch of the large multi-store El Corte Ingles opened. It sells clothes and fashion accessories as well as having its own Parafarmacia which is similar to somewhere like Boots but without the cosmetics, perfume or dispensing chemist sections. You can get prescription drugs from the Farmacia in the public area.

I would be lost without my local store which stocks an amazing range of goods at competitive prices. The El Corte prices here are the same as in their normal shops.

The three newsagents (Relay and News & Books) sell some typical souvenirs (fridge magnets, key rings, postcards, pens, ornaments, etc) to use up any remaining euros as well as a good selection of the latest best sellers and UK newspapers and magazines to read on the plane. The newspapers are current for that day but the magazines tend to be a week behind. All are much more expensive in Spain than in the UK but are marked with the euro cost so you can check this out before buying.

Below is an up to date list of the retail outlets in the shopping area which is almost "mall-like" Most of the shops in the departures are open daily from 07:00 to 22:00.
